Long-term timelapse or construction timelapse is a branch of timelapse photography.
The front page describes in more detail how timelapse works . The approach is reminiscent of how, like a surveillance camera, you document something, from a distance, for a long time. The big difference is that the timelapse camera is a still camera and not a camcorder. That's also why you can generally not stream video with timelapse cameras.

On the other hand, you can get much more detailed still images, even during the dark hours of the day. My timelapse cameras capture still images with a resolution of over 5,000 pixels in width, which is the same as 20 megapixels. This provides a good basis if you intend to deliver a video material with the resolution 4K.

By having these still cameras shoot for a long time, at fixed intervals (eg one image every 10 minutes) - you can document long events; such as the construction of buildings, industries or other types of environments. To create a movie from this material, you have to use some kind of program that converts the still images into movie material.

A good background to get a minute good construction timelapse is at least 6,000 still images. Among these images, you probably want to sift out images of raindrops running on the camera lens or if, for example, there have been holidays without activity at the workplace. It may also have blown a bit or the surface in which you have attached the camera has moved under heat and cold, then you also have to go in and stabilize the image files by trimming as little as possible and making sure that the film material does not jerk or move.

But a still camera is not in itself made to sit outside for long periods and is exposed to rain, wind and snow. That is why I have manufactured a waterproof capsule that can be easily exposed to all types of storms that the Swedish climate can cause.

Of course, you want to make sure that a camera that is mounted to document a construction for a long period, actually works. With my timelapse cameras each image is uploaded to my secure server , this way I immediately notice if a camera should stop working and I notice if something happens that you have to act on. In the same way, I can also remotely control the camera settings. By uploading the images to a server, you can periodically compile a movie or send out still images.
